  What is 5G?

  5G is the next generation of mobile network technology. It will improve your mobile experience and help you enjoy faster internet speeds, a more reliable data connection in busy places, and a near-instant connection when opening apps and websites, playing games or connecting to your smart home devices. 5G is not a replacement for 4G. It simply adds another layer to the network to provide you with a faster, smoother and better mobile experience.

  When is 5G available?

  EE launched its 5G network on 30 May 2019 in six UK cities: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London and Manchester. EE plans to introduce 5G into 10 more cities in 2019, including: Bristol, Coventry, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. A further 10 cities are due to receive 5G in 2020: Aberdeen, Cambridge, Derby, Gloucester, Peterborough, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Wolverhampton, Worcester.
  
  O2 is launching 5G in October 2019 initially in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, London and Slough. Further rollout is scheduled to continue through 2019 and beyond, with 50 towns and cities setup with 5G by summer 2020.
  
  While Three hasn’t announced an official date for its 5G launch, a bunch of UK towns cities have been confirmed for 2019: Birmingham, Bolton, Bradford, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Reading, Rotherham, Slough, Sheffield, Sunderland and Wolverhampton.
  
  Vodafone launched its 5G network will launch on 3 July 2019 in seven UK cities, including: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Manchester. Vodafone’s 5G network is due to roll out to a further 12 locations later in 2019: Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Newbury, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington and Wolverhampton. The dates for the additional 12 locations haven’t been confirmed yet.

  Is 5G available where I live?

  EE’s 5G network is currently available in: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London and Manchester.
  
  5G is also available on the Vodafone network in these cities: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Manchester.

  What networks can I get a 5G mobile on?

  EE and Vodafone are the only UK networks that support 5G right now. Both O2 and Three are launching their 5G networks later in 2019.

  Does my current mobile support 5G?

  In order to benefit from 5G, you need a 5G compatible mobile phone. Take a look at our 5G mobile phones to see what’s currently compatible.

  What 5G mobile phones are available?

  We have a range of 5G mobile phones on EE and Vodafone for you to choose from.

  What happens if I leave a 5G location with my 5G mobile phone?

  It will automatically connect to 4G, 3G or 2G, depending on what’s available. Then, when you renter a 5G zone, your 5G mobile will automatically connect to the 5G network again.
